Killing Named to Preseason All-America Team

Malique Killing Senior Malique Killing of the Muhlenberg men’s basketball team earned honorable mention on the preseason All-America team.

Killing, a three-time All-Centennial Conference second-team selection, was named to the site’s All-Mid-Atlantic Region second team last year, when he broke his own school record with 542 points and averaged 21.68 points per game, just a shade off the school record of 21.73. He finished 15th in Division III in scoring average.

Killing led the CC in scoring (by a healthy 5.3 points per game) for the second straight year and also paced the league in free-throw percentage (.876) while tying for the lead in assists (90) and tying for sixth with 37 steals.

During the season, Killing was named Scotty Wood Tournament MVP and scored his 1,000th and 1,500th career points. In late January, he became the first Mule – and just the second player in the CC – to score 30 or more points in three consecutive games,

Killing ranks seventh in school history with 1,505 points and needs 284 this season – which begins on Saturday – to break the all-time mark that has stood for 43 years. He also is within reach (32 away) from the all-time steals record of 169.
