Michael Long At this time of year, nobody wants to hear the words “Long” and “Winter” together – except when they’re the names of the Muhlenberg football team’s all-region selections.

Seniors Michael Long and Connor Winter were named to the All-South Region team. Long, a tight end, was a first-team pick for the second year in a row, while Winter earned a spot on the second team.

Long (right), a unanimous All-Centennial Conference first-team selection, caught 60 passes for 700 yards and 10 touchdowns. He broke the CC records for receptions by a tight end in a season (60) and career (135) while tying his own single-game mark of 11. Long tied for the CC lead with his 10 receiving touchdowns.

Connor Winter Among Division III tight ends, Long is tied for the lead in receptions and is the only one with double figures in touchdown catches.

Long finished his career sixth on the Mules’ all-time list in career receptions and 12th in receiving yards (1,518).

Winter (left) missed only four kicks all season, going 52-for-54 on extra points and 15-for-17 on field goals to tie the school record of 97 points scored by kicking. A first-team All-CC pick, he booted four field goals of 40 yards or further, including a 49-yarder.

Only three kickers in Division III have made more field goals than Winter’s 15, and only three have scored more points by kicking. He also was an important part of a coverage unit that ranks 11th in Division III in kickoff return defense.

Winter finished his career as Muhlenberg’s all-time leader in points scored by kicking (230), field goals (31) and extra points (137).
