Sophomore Rebecca Armstrong scored two second-half goals to lead the Muhlenberg women’s soccer team to its second straight win, 3-0 at Delaware Valley.

The shutout was the first of the season for the Mules (4-5), who set a school record with 12 last year. It also marked the first time Muhlenberg has won back-to-back games this season.

After a scoreless first half, the Mules got on the board in the ninth minute of the second half. On an indirect kick ouside the penalty box, junior Monica Jones found Armstrong unmarked at the right of the wall. Armstrong received the pass and chipped the ball over the goalie’s head for her third goal of the season.

Midway through the half, junior Dawn Iberer converted a diagonal pass from senior Jamie Gluck for her ninth goal of the year. Armstrong closed out the scoring three minutes later with a sweet left-footed shot to the upper left-hand corner of the goal.

Senior Kim Laurino and sophomore Stacey Spector combined for eight saves in goal. Junior back Katrina Custance preserved the shutout early in the game by clearing a shot off the line.
