6-6. The annual trophy will be decided by Muhlenberg-Moravian matchups in women’s and men’s track and field, softball and men’s golf.

Juniors Brad Scheller and Matt Fleissig trailed 5-2 at first doubles, then survived a match point at 7-6. With the other two doubles matches already completed, one win for each team, Scheller and Fleissig won the final three games to give the Mules (2-0) the doubles point.

“We were down, and we realized that we had to pick up the intensity and play up to our potential,” commented Fleissig.

Wins at fourth through sixth singles by freshman Jeff Kraft, sophomore Brian Barkauskas and freshman Mitchell Reading, respectively, gave Muhlenberg the four points they needed to claim the match. The two remaining matches on the court were abandoned because of darkness, with each team receiving a half-point for both.
