Senior Justin Graf and sophomore Matt Cooper enjoyed career milestones as the Muhlenberg baseball team defeated Haverford, 11-2.

Graf became the 23rd member of the Mules’ 100-hit club with an RBI single in the fourth – one of three hits he had in the game. In the sixth, he stole his 28th base of the season, breaking the school record of 27 set by Joshua Carter in 2000. Graf entered the game with more stolen bases than all but three other teams in the Centennial Conference.

Cooper earned his first career win with a brilliant complete-game five-hitter. He struck out seven. After allowing a leadoff triple in the second, Cooper gave up only two hits the rest of the way, retiring 13 straight batters in one stretch.

The Mules (13-8, 4-4) trailed 2-1 before scoring five runs in the fourth to take command. Sophomore C.J. Kessler started the rally with the second of his three hits, a single to center, and went to second on a walk. Junior Adam Sadler loaded the bases with a bunt single. One run scored on a balk, and Graf’s 100th hit drove in the go-ahead run. Senior Justin Rubenstein then boomed a two-run triple to make it 5-2, and senior Ben Carr capped the rally with a sacrifice fly.

Rubenstein finished 4-for-5 with three RBI. Freshman Ryan Jaxheimer drove in two runs with a pair of sacrifice flies.
