Hankee Breaks Own Record in First Outdoor Meet

The Muhlenberg track and field teams sent a handful of athletes, mostly Ashlie Hankee javlelin and discus throwers who could not compete in those events during the indoor season, to the Stockton Invitational for the first outdoor meet of 2005.

Senior Ashlie Hankee also went to the meet and picked up right where she left off indoors. After breaking her own school record in the 55-meter hurdles in each of the last two indoor meets, Hankee (right) began the outdoor season by topping her mark in the 100-meter hurdles. Her time of 15.14 (converted from hand time) bested the record of 15.38 she set in 2003.

Hankee finished second in her event and qualified for the ECAC Championships, as did sophomore Sarah Mitchell in the javelin. Junior Danielle Seiler also placed second in the 400-meter intermediate hurdles.
