Baseball Heads Into Crucial Weekend on Sour Note

Just three days after the Muhlenberg baseball team defeated Ursinus by 10 runs in convincing fashion at home, the Bears got some revenge on their home field, handing the Mules a 7-2 loss.

Muhlenberg (12-7, 4-4) took a two-run lead on single runs in the second and fourth innings. After reaching base on a double, sophomore Pete Oris was brought home on a single by sophomore Mike Hart in the second inning. Two innings later, Oris walked and scored on a two-out hit by sophomore A.J. Bettini.

From there, the Mule batters were silenced and Ursinus (8-8, 7-3) scored the final seven runs of the game, thanks in part to four Muhlenberg errors. The Bears scored two in the bottom half of the fourth inning to tie the game and scored two unearned runs in the fifth to take a 4-2 lead. Ursinus added two more unearned runs in the eighth to put the game out of reach.

Muhlenberg now returns home for two critical doubleheaders this weekend. The Mules host Gettysburg on Saturday and McDaniel on Sunday.
