RiRi Ferrigno The Muhlenberg softball team fell to 2-6 on its spring trip with a pair of losses at the Fortune Road complex.

Untimely errors were the difference in both games. In the first, Wheaton (Ill.) scored an unearned run in the top of the seventh for a 2-1 win. In the second game, Ferrum plated two unearned runs in the bottom of the fifth to break a 4-4 tie and went on to win, 6-4.

The Mules came from behind to tie both games. Against Wheaton, freshman Jenna Van Waalwijk doubled with two out in the fifth and scored on an error for Muhlenberg’s lone run.

Trailing 4-0 to Ferrum, the Mules plated four runs in the fourth, capped by a two-out, two-run double off the bat of senior Hilary Marinchak.

Sophomore RiRi Ferrigno (right) had a tremendous day, going 6-for-7 with a double in each game. She was 4-for-4 and threw out a runner attempting to steal against Ferrum.
