Alex Faust The Muhlenberg track and field teams are off to an excellent start at the Centennial Conference Championships.

Freshman Alex Faust won the women’s pole vault, and the Mules combined for four ECAC-qualifying performances in the first six events.

Faust (left) won the first completed event of the meet, duplicating her gold-medal effort at the indoor championships. She cleared 10-11¾, breaking the meet record of 10-6¼ set last year and winning by more than a foot and a half.

Sophomore Janette Adams placed sixth in the 10,000 meters with an ECAC-qualifying time of 39:32.06, becoming just the second runner in team history to break 40 minutes in the 10K.

Senior Rachel Drosdick was a close second after the first four events of the heptathlon, trailing the defending champion by just 28 points. She ran a personal-best 15.45 in the 100-meter hurdles.

Senior Tim Seeley scored the lone point for the men’s team by finishing eighth in the 10K. Junior Michael Karchner, attempting to defend his 2006 decathlon title, was tied for first after five events.
