Head Coach Bob Macaluso
Bob Macaluso
Bob Macaluso, an assistant for the previous two seasons at Springfield (Mass.) College, was hired as Muhlenberg’s head baseball coach in September 1998. In his first season, he led the Mules to their most wins (17) since 1986 and their best Centennial Conference finish ever (fourth place). Muhlenberg finished in the top half of the CC again in 2000.

A 1987 graduate of Springfield, Macaluso brought to Muhlenberg 10 years of baseball coaching experience in Massachusetts. He was pitching coach and head junior varsity coach at Melrose High School from 1989 to 1992 and head varsity coach at Weston High School from 1993 to 1996 before returning to his alma mater. In both of his years as an assistant at Springfield, the Pride won at least 20 games, captured the West Division title of the Constitution Athletic Conference and participated in the ECAC New England Baseball Tournament.

Macaluso, a three-year letterwinner and career .281 hitter as a third baseman for Springfield, also piloted the Reading (Mass.) Legion Post 62 from 1988 to 1997. Among the players he coached there was future major leaguer Jason Bere.
