TRACK & FIELD at Wheaton for ECAC Championships. Junior Katrina Beck tied for third in the high jump at the ECAC Championships with a height of 5-2. The five team points gave Muhlenberg a 29th-place finish. Senior Kurt Kunsch, the only other Mule athlete who participated, did not record a height in the pole vault.
BASEBALL Muhlenberg 5, Adrian 3. In Homestead, Fla., junior Tim Haberbusch tossed a complete-game four-hitter and struck out seven to pitch the Mules to their first win of the season. Haberbusch allowed single runs in each of the first two innings, but then settled down allowed no runs and a single hit over the next six frames. He ended the game by striking out the potential tying run in the bottom of the ninth. Muhlenberg took the lead for good with three runs in the third, on an RBI single by junior David Wolf, a fielder's choice grounder and a two-out double by sophomore Mike Morris. Senior Chuck Draper had two of the Mules' 12 hits — moving into second on the all-time list with 135 career safeties — scored three runs and threw out a runner at the plate. SOFTBALL Loras 4, Muhlenberg 3; Ithaca 9, Muhlenberg 2. The Mules opened their season by dropping a pair of games at the Rebel Spring Games in Ocoee, Fla. Sophomore Lori Blanchfield hit two singles and stole two bases. Freshman Kelly Berg stroked a double in the nightcap, but the Mules fell to ninth-ranked Ithaca. Click here for box scores.
