History Men’s track and field at Muhlenberg dates all the way back to 1910, while the women’s program is a bit younger, beginning in 1988. The men’s program had its glory days in the early 1940s, winning the first Eastern College Athletic Conference championship in 1942 and capturing the Middle Atlantic Conference title in 1943 and 1944. The Mule mile-relay team finished first at the Penn Relays in both 1942 and 1943. Recent highlights include a fourth-place finish at the Centennial Conference Indoor Championships in 1996 and the 1994 CC men’s champion in both the 100- and 200-meter dashes. The women finished third at the CC Indoor meet in 1994, when they had two individual champions. The 2000 teams combined to break or tie 17 school records indoors and outdoors and had six CC champions. The men’s team scored 70 points, its most ever, at the CC Outdoor Championships. |
